ABOUT PATRICK

Patrick is a senior-year English and education student at Moravian College, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

While Bethlehem and the greater-Lehigh Valley are his second home, he is from Doylestown, north of Philadelphia. He is a graduate of its Central Bucks High School South. His many English teachers and speech-therapist were his inspirations to pursue a career in the educational field.

Patrick identifies language education as highly significant throughout students' lives, into adulthood. For that reason, successful language practices in reading and writing skills are necessary for students to cultivate their own success and happiness. Language education is a keystone practice Patrick is excited to support.

Patrick is interested in literature, Toni Morrison most of all. He is also largely interested and passionate about grammar and theoretical linguistics. He also enjoys researching foreign languages and their acquisition, namely Arabic and Spanish, with two years of research in Arabic literature and discourse.

Speaking personally, I come from a family of educators. A Grandma who was a reading specialist. Great Aunts who were librarians. A sister who is a librarian.

It was a very easy and natural choice for me to enter education, which I decided I wanted to do when I was in the ninth-grade of high school. I had been raised listening to and supporting the work of Malala Yousafzai. After taking excellent English courses, thanks to the contagious passions of my teachers, I knew that I wanted to put myself to work and help the world achieve good education for all students.

Being Arab, I am greatly passionate about education equality, especially for girls and women. It is for that reason that I commit myself to volunteer work for the Malala Fund.

If you are also interested in supporting the Malala Fund, please click the link below to find out how you may also support education equality for girls and women in the Middle East and North Africa, and beyond.
